Privacy Policy

At Roseby Rosner & Young, protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information is important. Roseby Rosner & Young is subject to the National Privacy Principles (“NPPs”) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The following Privacy Policy explains how Roseby Rosner & Young manages and protects the privacy of your personal information under the NPPs.

Personal information

Personal information is any information or an opinion, whether true or not, which identifies you. When personal information concerns certain matters it is considered sensitive information.

Sensitive information may be information or opinion about your:

  • racial or ethnic origin;
  • political opinions;
  • membership of a political association;
  • religious beliefs, affiliations or philosophical beliefs;
  • membership of a professional or trade association or membership of a trade union;
  • sexual preferences or practices;
  • criminal record;


Collection of personal information

Generally, Roseby Rosner & Young will collect personal information directly from you. Roseby Rosner & Young usually collects information such as your name, address, contact number and email address. Sometimes Roseby Rosner & Young also collects sensitive information about you, such as information about membership of an association or health information. Roseby Rosner & Young only collects sensitive information with your consent.

On occasions Roseby Rosner & Young will collect personal information about you from someone else. For example, Roseby Rosner & Young may collect personal information from:

  • to advise you of accounting and taxation developments


If you don’t provide personal information

If you do not provide the personal information Roseby Rosner & Young’ requests, Roseby Rosner & Young will not be able to provide you with effective accounting and taxation services.


Disclose of personal information

Roseby Rosner & Young has a duty to maintain the confidentiality of its clients affairs including personal information. This duty of confidentiality applies except where disclosure of your personal information is:

  • With your consent
    • Your consent may be given either expressly or  implied from your conduct. Where the provision of accounting advices and taxation  services to you requires disclosing your personal information to a third party  your consent would be implied when you engage Roseby Rosner & Young  unless you tell Roseby Rosner & Young otherwise.
  • Compelled by Law
    • For example: in response to a subpoena.

If Roseby Rosner & Young engages a third party contractor to perform services which involves handling personal information, Roseby Rosner & Young takes reasonable steps to prohibit the contractor from using personal information except for the purposes for which it was supplied.


Direct marketing and your privacy

From time to time Roseby Rosner & Young may use the personal information it collects about you to identify particular services and/or information which it believes may be of interest and benefit to you. Roseby Rosner & Young may then contact you to let you know about these services and information and how they may benefit you. Please contact us if you do not want to receive any of this information.


Accuracy of personal information

If Roseby Rosner & Young has accurate personal information about you, it enables Roseby Rosner & Young to provide you with the best possible service.   Roseby Rosner & Young takes reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information Roseby Rosner & Young collect, uses and discloses is accurate, complete and up to date. Please contact Roseby Rosner & Young immediately if you find that the personal information Roseby Rosner & Young holds about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Employees of Roseby Rosner & Young access your personal information only in order for them to carry out their employment. Our employees are committed to maintaining confidentiality.

When Roseby Rosner & Young no longer requires your personal information Roseby Rosner & Young securely destroys the information and deletes it from its systems.


Access to personal information

You may request access to any of the personal information Roseby Rosner & Young holds about you. Roseby Rosner & Young will, on request, provide you with access to the personal information Roseby Rosner & Young holds about you, unless there is an exemption which applies under the Privacy Act. For example, Roseby Rosner & Young may refuse you access to personal information where Roseby Rosner & Young has a legal duty of confidentiality or non disclosure.

Your request for access will be dealt with in a reasonable time, Roseby Rosner & Young may charge you a fee to cover the reasonable cost of retrieval and the supply of the information to you.

If Roseby Rosner & Young refuses your request for access, it will provide you with reasons for the refusal.


Transferring your personal information overseas

Roseby Rosner & Young does not transfer your personal information overseas unless Roseby Rosner & Young is authorised by law to do so or you have consented to it as part of the accounting and taxation services Roseby Rosner & Young provides to you.
